Are you ready for some Coffee With Careless. Or perhaps some good Country Road Logic. Let me do my best to merge the two and still keep you somewhat entertained. Have you ever driven down a country road where you see more deer than motor vehicles – most of which are pickup trucks? I have. I always get comforted by the small town wave. That is when you are driving and the person passing you on the opposite side of the road slowly lifts his index finger with precision from the hand on top of the steering wheel. This is the small town wave where the other person is saying hi and how the heck are ya.
The real question is: why is there no small town wave in the big city? Drivers in the big city seem anxious, angry, and always in a hurry. They get upset if you are driving too slow, too fast, or try to pass them. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone adopted Country Road Logic. Why not start off the day with a Big Texas Smile on your face and take it from there. Life would be so much simpler and easier. To quote Rodney Allen Rippy: “Can’t we all just get along?”
So, my advice today is: pretend you are driving down that country road. Give the small town wave to your fellow drivers (but please make sure to use the correct finger – that’s very important). Take a deep breath, relax, and let that person behind you pass. You won’t get there any quicker. Be like my two friends above. Take it all in, enjoy yourself, and I just bet your great attitude will spread like peanut butter.

Bikers and people on boats do the small town wave.
