Yes, I found her dipping into my bourbon – again. But this time (unlike when she finished my Balcones Single Malt), I think she was trying so send me a subliminal message.
I got to thinking, I ain’t no spring chicken anymore. What have I done with my life? Have I made my mark? When I’m gone will people remember me? When I get super old, will I even remember me? I wonder…
I think I’ve made my mark. Sure, I could sit here and list every single thing I’ve done that I feel is important and that people may miss when I’m no longer around. But the list is long and frankly, I don’t want to bore you to tears. I’ll just list a few.
I made my mark with L.E. (see above). I picked her up off of the street when she was almost dead. Now she lives a life of luxury while sipping my bourbon. Her life was changed forever and she lets me know – constantly.
I made my mark with my Dudley Files dog comedy mystery novels and children’s picture books.
The real test will come later on to see if I really made my mark. If I am remembered after I’ve been called home by just one person and a smile is on their face while thinking of me, I’ve made my mark. If I have that effect on more than one person, I’ve hit a grand slam.
It’s really that simple.
Have you made your mark? If you haven’t started yet, it’s not too late. But if you’re reading this, I bet you have.
Leave your positive imprint on someone. And you will live on forever.
Make your mark.
