REDEMPTION! Can you hear it? Visualize the preacher man (or woman – don’t want to start this blog off being politically incorrect) standing in front of his congregation raising his Bible in one hand while placing his other hand over his heart.
Do you believe in redemption? I’m not sure I ever did until recently. But I certainly do now. I have written two books (working on the fourth now) before Soul Heeler. They came to fruition fairly quickly but Soul Heeler has taken more time to get to press than I would have ever imagined. At first I blamed it on the usual culprits – you know, editors, designers, typesetters, etc…
No, it wasn’t any of those reasons. Something was holding this story back – holding me back. Many rewrites, edits, title changes, and cover changes later, clarity started settling in. I didn’t realize is at first, but something was forming in this third installment of The Dudley Files. It was rather unintentional, and yet right in front of me the whole time. I just couldn’t see it in the beginning phases. But it was there all along.
Redemption. That is what the real meaning of this book truly turned out to be. I’m not going to give away the store (or the story), but this book taught me about redemption. Are people even capable of redemption? Even if they may have done horrible things? And will it affect them enough to not do a repeat? And what of the canine? Are they able to be redeemed? Are they able to trust again after humanity has turned their back on the canine’s plight?
These are all valid questions. And I truly believe the answer is YES! Yes, human and canine redemption is achievable. It must be. Soul Heeler deals with many issues, redemption being one of them. It will be released in the next several months. Of course, I recommend it highly. You will cry. You will smile. You will laugh. I know I did while writing it. But most of all, you will get a look at true love. And you will be reminded what is really important. Powerful? Yes. Touching? Yes. Meaningful? Absolutely.
Soul Heeler will touch your heart just as it has done mine. And you may just learn something about yourself – and others. So, subscribe on Dudley’s website for upcoming events and releases, and future blog posts.
REDEMPTION! It’s a good thing. You’ll see.
