WHEN LIFE CLOSES A CAR DOOR A CAR WINDOW OPENS

IF THERE'S NO OPEN CAR DOOR LOOK FOR AN OPEN CAR WINDOW

Have you ever heard the phrase:  When one door closes, another opens? I have, and it really started me thinking when I was driving around with the girls (L.E. and Medina) in my truck. They love when the door opens and they can jump in the truck. Not so much when the door closes behind them.

Much like humans, they have figured out that when one door closes, another one opens – but in this case a window opens, and they like that just fine. They know when the door behind them closes, that their journey is not over. It’s just the beginning of a new journey. And sometimes that journey just may take them to Buc-ees for a kolache or two. Yes, the girls love kolaches. They can deal with their cardiologist themselves.

I also like it when the window opens for the girls. I love watching peoples faces as they drive by us with goofy dogs sticking their heads out. The goofy dogs like it because people smile and wave at them. Yes, they are hams. Also, I rarely have to wash the truck because L.E. has a very active goober gland and when her big jowls start flapping around in the wind, the truck gets a spit shine. And it’s free! You can read all about the spit shine on pick-up trucks in The Dudley Files, dog comedy mystery novels. You may never want a conventional car wash after that.

One thing the girls have taught me is that life is a journey, and it is a never ending journey. I watch them as they realize that when the door behind them closes, they can’t go back. But they never even look back. They only look ahead. They already know what a lot of us must learn, and that is:  keep moving forward and doors (or perhaps windows) will open. Dogs are smart that way.

So, when you see a dog with big jowls flapping around like sails in the wind in front of you, remember that when one door closes, another opens. Oh, and it might be a really good idea to make sure those wiper blades are in good working order. You may just get that free car wash – whether you want it or not.

About Cary Robinson

Cary Robinson insists that Dudley writes the mystery novels, including Sold Out Without The Holdout and Burp Gun Bandit, while he merely types them up as the two of them sit out by the river and meditate on ways to not get any work done.
